These two colors combined remind me of my favorite ice cream flavor… mint chocolate chip! I’ve had these on my wishlist for a while and finally was able to purchase and swatch them. I’ve seen so many pictures of Seafoam online and they all look different, so I had no idea what to expect. I’m not sure if this one should be classified as blue or green because it’s kind of both. I really thought it would be greener, but it has a touch of grey in it. Regardless of what you call it, I think this is an awesome color for spring. Sweet Chocolate is a rich, shimmery dark brown. This is a good fall/winter color and the shimmer has some copper hues to it.

Gelish Love in Bloom Swatches – Spring 2013 Collection

The much anticipated Gelish “Love in Bloom” collection is finally available! These bright, cheerful colors are bound to be a huge hit this spring. I really enjoyed swatching these colors and can’t wait to do some spring nail art with them.

I know there has been a lot of speculation about the colors and whether any of them were duplicates, so I’ve also done some comparisons to show you that they are all in fact completely unique. There are some similarities to other shades, but no duplicates here.

These are all creamy finishes, and the formulas of some of the polishes were a little thick. If you apply in thin coats you shouldn’t have any issues. Each of the swatches below has three coats of color.

First up is Gelish “All Dahlia-ed Up”. This is a striking bright pink. The closest comparison that I found to this color was Gossip Girl, except GG was a little pinker.

Gelish “A Petal For Your Thoughts” is a lighter shade of pink that also has some orange tones to it.

Gelish “Sweet Morning Dew” is like no other shade I have seen by this brand. It’s a soft, light orange with peachy tones. I just love this one.

Gelish “A Mint of Spring” is a hard color to describe. When I saw the pictures of the bottle I thought this was going to be more of a minty green, but it definitely has some blue tones to it. I did a comparison of this next to Sea Foam.

Gelish “Garden Teal Party” is a gorgeous teal blue. A close comparison to this color is My Favorite Accessory, but this is a few shades lighter. I love wearing blue, so I have a feeling this is going to get some use

And the last color is Gelish “He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not” – a bright lavender that’s unlike any other Gelish polish I’ve seen. I had a bit of a hard time capturing the color with my camera – it was making it more blue than it is so I did have to do a little color adjustment to try to get it as close as possible. I wore this color to work today and couldn’t stop looking at it all day… absolutely in love with this shade.

Update 3/4/13: He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not is a fader! After wearing this color for a length of time the color turns into more of a Periwinkle blue. I experienced this first-hand and have read several complaints on the Gelish FB page.

This is a fun mani using three Gelish colors; Carnival Hangover, Sheek White, and Black Shadow. The zig zag pattern was created using these tape/stickers that I purchased on ebay. The studs on the pinky are from Born Pretty. I think the look is fairly simple, but also sleek and sexy!

I have a Gelish quickie for you today…. this is Jet Set. I’ve had this one on my wishlist for a while and finally got around to buying and trying it. Wow… it’s not the color I thought it would be at all. I always thought this was a really deep blue color, but it’s actually a dark grey-ish purple with a real subtle shimmer. I had a very hard time trying to capture this color on camera, so these aren’t my best swatches, but they’re the closest I could get.

Today I have a quick comparison of some of the dark purple shades that Gelish offers. Below you can see a side-by-side comparison of Night Reflection, Bella’s Vampire, Diva, The Perfect Silhouette, and Plum and Done. All of the swatches below are two coats except for Bella’s Vampire, which has three (and still has a bit of transparency). This is Carnival Hangover by Gelish. All of the swatches that I’ve seen for this polish have looked more purple, but mine looks like a bright pink. I’m not sure if this one might be a color changer and changed in the bottle before I opened it. I just purchased it a couple of weeks ago, so it hasn’t been sitting around here for too long. Hmm… I do love the color though. It’s an awesome shade for spring/summer and I’m sure I’ll get some wear out of it. You can also see this color in my recent zig zag skittlette manicure.

Don’t Steal & Give Credit Where Credit is Due

Today you may notice that all of my Gelish swatches have a new watermark symbol on them. Unfortunately, I’ve been having a lot of issues with people and companies stealing my images and cropping out the watermark (aka copyright infringement!). I really didn’t want to cover my pictures with invasive watermarks, but I don’t see any other way to protect my property.

I spend countless hours polishing my nails, taking photos, editing and writing blog posts in an attempt to create a valuable resource for nail polish lovers. I don’t make a lot of money doing this… it’s a labor of love. All I ask in return is that if you use my pictures, please leave the watermarks in tact and give credit! It’s really that simple. Just because you find images on Google or social media sites doesn’t mean they are free for the taking and you can do whatever you like with them. These photos are my property and I reserve all rights to them.

If you see my photos in use without the proper credits in place, please let me know through my contact form. Don’t post their links in the comments because we don’t want to send any traffic or business their way! Thanks for understanding.

Gelish Golden Treasure & Twinkle Swatches

I’ve been searching for a gel polish that has fine gold glitter, but is also very dense and provides full coverage. I purchased Gelish Golden Treasure and Gelish Twinkle, but unfortunately neither of them quite fit the bill since they don’t provide full coverage. They are both lovely though and since they have a clear base they would be great glitter toppers over other colors.

In person I really can’t tell a huge difference between the two, so I don’t see the need to own both. Twinkle is a little more of a yellow gold, and it has some holographic glitters sprinkled in the mix. I applied three coats of each in the swatches below.

Are you ready for another glittery Gelish polish?! This is High Voltage – a pink jelly base that’s loaded with glitter. I feel like such a girl… I can’t get enough glitter right now. LOL This is three coats of High Voltage and it applied very evenly. I’m working my way through these Gelish swatches. At this rate I might have the entire line swatched by the end of the year! I heard there will be some new summer colors coming out so hopefully I’ll know more soon.

I’m also working on some gel polish FAQ’s. Let me know if you have any questions and I’ll try to address them in a post this week.

It’s actually starting to feel like spring outside… ahhhhh. The warm air inspired me to play with some bright colors. This manicure started with a base of Gelish You’re Such a Sweet Tart and then I used nail art striping tape to apply some additional geometric shapes on top of it. The other colors used are Gelish My Favorite Accessory and Carnival Hangover. I added the dots with a dotting tool and my Konad white polish. I really had no plan and just randomly added shapes, but I think it turned out kind of cool.

This is Gelish You’re Such a Sweet-Tart from the Candy Land Collection. It’s a fun, bright green with a subtle shimmer. This is a great spring/summer color.

Last spring Gelish released the Candyland collection, filled with bright, cheerful colors. I’m swatching this collection and the Rio Neon collection so that I can compare them to the new All About the Glow collection that’s slated to be released in May.

Each of theses swatches is three coats of color. The formulas in this collection are nice – the colors all apply easily and I didn’t have any issues with thickness or wrinkling.

This is You’re So Sweet You’re Giving Me a Toothache. It’s a creamy light pink. Rumor has it this color fades a little after application, so I’ll do a swatch stick comparison of this if I see any fading. You’re so sweet is very close in color to Pink Smoothie, but it’s slightly darker.

This is Sugar ‘N Spice & Everything Nice, a bright pink.

This is Don’t Be Such a Sourpuss, yellow with a subtle shimmer.

This is You’re Such a Sweet-Tart, green with a subtle shimmer.

This is Sugar Daddy, a fun, bright blue.

This is Orange Cream Dream. I took these pictures a while ago, so the format it a little different from the others.

I have another set of Gelish swatches for you! This is the Rio Neon collection that was released previously. Since Gelish will be releasing a new neon collection very soon, I wanted to swatch this older collection for comparison purposes. All of these colors applied with ease, no wrinkling or curing issues. A few of the colors are actually on the thin side and are a bit transparent leaving a visible nail line.

As you would expect with a neon collection, the colors are bright!! This is Shake It Til You Samba, a neon pink. This is a very fun summer color, and it has great coverage with just two coats.

Tiki Tiki Laranga is a neon orange. This color did have some shrinkage issues and pulled back from the edges a little.

Coco Cabana Banana… the name says it all… hello yellow!

Amazon Flirt is a neon green. You’ll need a pair of sunglasses when you wear this or Coco Cabana!

Ooba Ooba Blue… this one doesn’t really seem neon to me. This color is a bit thin and I had some shrinkage issues. I’d recommend Sugar Daddy over this blue since the colors are similar and it has much better coverage.

And finally, Carnaval Hangover. On all of the Gelish swatches this appears to be purple, and when you put it next to the other colors in this collection it is purple-ish… however next to other colors in my collection, this appears to be more on the pink side than purple. It also doesn’t strike me as being “neon”, but it’s a gorgeous color and I’ve worn it a few times already. It also has great coverage with just two coats.

The new All About the Glow collection from Gelish is finally here! This has been promoted as their “brightest collection yet”, and I think it’s a pretty accurate claim. The Rio Neon collection was bright, but in comparison these are even brighter! I will have some comparisons to share with you very soon.

I am happy to tell you that the formula of these polishes is improved from some of the previous collections. They aren’t thick and I didn’t experience any wrinkling or curing issues… and I actually tried to get them to wrinkle by applying some thicker layers. I checked my swatches for fading after about 24 hours and didn’t notice any changes in the colors. My only complaint about the formula is that the colors didn’t apply as evenly as I would have liked and required three coats each for even coverage. With that said, I think they are all brilliant colors. I’ve been wearing Radiance Is My Middle Name (teal) today, and LOVE it!

Make You Blink Pink reminds me of a Barbie! It’s a super bright pink unlike any other by Gelish.

Brights Have More Fun is a darker hot pink. It’s very similar to Shake It Til You Samba, but it’s slightly lighter & brighter.

I’m Brighter Than You is a vivid coral/peach color. This one is similar to Sweet Morning Dew, but is also lighter and brighter.

Sometimes A Girl’s Gotta Glow is a brilliant lime green. I will compare this to Amazon Flirt and You’re Such a Sweet-Tart.

Radiance is My Middle Name is a bright teal color. As I mentioned, I’ve been wearing this all day and absolutely love it. I will compare this with Garden Teal Party, though it’s visibly brighter.

You Glare, I Glow is an electric shade of purple unlike any other by Gelish.

Gelish All About the Glow Color Comparisons

I have the much anticipated color comparisons for you! First up is I’m Brighter Than You, and the only color that this is close to is Sweet Morning Dew. I was worried that these would be too similar, but I’m Brighter Than You is much lighter/brighter. The formula is also much better so if you’re deciding between the two, I recommend I’m Brighter.

Brights Have More Fun vs. Shake It Til You Samba… not much difference here. Brights Have More Fun is just slightly lighter/brighter, but I don’t see the need for owning both of these since they’re so close. Shake It Til You Samba is probably my pick of the two because it has a great formula and offers full coverage with just two coats.

Sometimes A Girl’s Gotta Glow is seen here on the index finger and pinky… it’s pretty different from the other greens in the Rio Neon and Candyland collections. It’s my fav of the three.

Sorry, I cheated on this one since my nails need a little break after all of the swatching. Radiance is My Middle Name is closest to Garden Teal Party, but again is a few shades lighter. Garden Teal Party has better coverage with no visible nail line, but Radiance has a better formula…. it’s a toss up. I love blues, and really like these both. Radiance is so bright and fun. I’ve been wearing it for 2 days now and plan to keep it on the rest of the week (that’s a long time for me).

Gelish High Bridge

I needed a quick and simple mani the other day and decided to wear Gelish High Bridge again. I swatched this polish a while ago, but accidentally deleted the photos before I had a chance to post them. Oops! This polish is sheer and shows some visible nail line, but I adore it. The base is pink, and it’s loaded with different color micro-glitter. I’ve seen other pictures of this color and they all looked like a much brighter pink… I’m not sure if the formula was changed or if mine is different, but it definitely isn’t as bright as I expected.

Gelish Mint Icing & a Testament to Gel Polish!

Today’s post is just a quickie swatch of Gelish Mint Icing, but it’s also a testament to SOG polish. My daughter graduated high school on Thursday (yay!), and I’m planning a big grad party at my house this coming Saturday. I apologize in advance if I’m quiet this week, but I have a lot of party preparations to take care of and many family members coming in from out of town.

I’ve been having some work done on the house and there was a huge mess to be cleaned up… plaster dust everywhere, so that was my agenda for this weekend. I started Friday night and just cleaned 2 bedrooms. I was wearing regular nail polish and half of it chipped off that first night. Saturday morning I woke up and started cleaning again, but my nails weren’t holding up well at all… they desperately needed some reinforcement/strength. So I took a short break from cleaning to apply some gel polish, the lovely Mint Icing color seen below. I hadn’t worn this color before and meant to take swatch pictures right away, but I got caught back up in cleaning and totally forgot. I ended up cleaning for almost 12 hours!! I bleached bathrooms, washed all of the hardwood floors, dusted… the works. These pics were taken the next day and my nails are still in perfect condition. And that’s why I love gel polish… I can clean, garden, and do just about anything I want and not have to worry about my nail polish chipping or nails breaking!

Mint Icing color is shimmery teal… it’s a little greener and less sparkly than Oocha Coocha. It’s a bit sheer for my taste. This is three coats and there’s still quite a bit of visible nail line.
